Early BVR c I c imaging and the discovery of the optical afterglow of GRB 041218
نویسنده
چکیده
We report early BVRcIc imaging of the INTEGRAL GRB 041218. The observation started 129 s after the burst and a sequence of exposures in V , Rc, Ic, and B bands were repeated. The optical afterglow is detected in Rc and Ic bands while it was not detected in B and V . We find that the early afterglow deviates from a single power law decay and identify two characteristic timescales (breaks). Such breaks are theoretically expected from synchrotron cooling in the relativistic fireball (Sari et al. 1998) and we crudely constrain the physical condition of the relativistic shock.

We report on the very early time search for an optical afterglow from GRB 971227 with the Livermore Optical Transient Imaging System (LOTIS). LOTIS began imaging the ‘Original’ BATSE error box of GRB 971227 ∼ 14 s after the onset of gamma-ray emission. Continuous monitoring of the position throughout the evening yielded a total of 499 images (10 s integration). Analysis of these images revealed...

The TAROT telescopes (Télescopes à Action Rapide pour les Objets Transitoires) are two robotic observatories designed to observe the prompt optical emission counterpart and the early afterglow of gamma ray bursts (GRBs). We present data acquired between 2001 and 2008 and discuss the properties of the optical emission of GRBs, noting various interesting results. The optical emission observed dur...

We report photometric observations of the optical afterglow of GRB 010222 in V , R and I passbands carried out between 22–27 February 2001 at Nainital. We determine the CCD Johnson BV and Cousins RI photometric magnitudes for 31 stars in the field of GRB 010222 and use them to calibrate our measurements as well as other published BV RI photometric magnitudes of the GRB 010222 afterglow. We cons...
